EMS WEEK MESSAGE

As we approach another EMS week let’s all take a moment to reflect on why we answer the calls. Day and night, rain or shine, whether you’re on your 18th run in an urban jungle or going stir-crazy from hours of unfulfilled anticipation at a remote rural sub-station…sure, you have your personal reasons.  We know that you also do it because you care.  There is no greater calling than to help the sick and injured and to reduce morbidity and mortality.

At this special time, the board of directors of the South Carolina Rural EMS Coalition says…THANK YOU… to the services large and small, EMTs, Intermediates and Paramedics and to our allied EMS agencies and organizations:

SC DHEC EMS Division

SC Office of Rural Health

Regional EMS Councils

SC EMS Association

SC EMS Educators Association

SC EMS PIER Team

Let’s all have a good EMS Week and a safe year!

SCREMSC Featured In National Magazine

The January Issue of Rural Roads published by the National Rural Health Association has a short article about rural EMS in South Carolina and the creation of the SC Rural EMS Coalition.  The article was written by our executive director Bill Minikiewicz.

Membership Approves Two Position Papers

At the October meeting, the membership approved a position paper asking for better quality assurance feedback from trauma centers and medical helicopter services.  The membership also approved a paper asking for representation on the DHEC EMS Advisory Council.  (Read the papers here.)
